Is there a way to change the resolution of the AVI? Is the resolution always just whatever the window size is? A 1 minute clip is taking an hour to generate and is half a gigabyte... Its pretty useless like that.
Also, we have 3D viewer using between 80 and 90% available CPU whenever the s3d file is open. Nothing is playing, its just consuming CPU for some reason.
3D Viewer takes up roughly the same amount of CPU usage on my computer as well, *without or without the simulation playing*. My guess is that with the animation of 3D models it simply takes a lot of memory power to run the program. I find it best to close all other programs first, then it should work fine.
I have had similar problems. Here is what I have tried:
1. To reduce the resolution, make the window smaller. The weird thing is that although this appears to reduce the resolution, the video file size stays roughly the same. However, I have noticed a sharp reduction in choppiness in both the encoding and final output as a result of this.
2. Try downloading the latest version of Synchro, and then encode your file with the second microsoft MPEG-4 codec. My 1'40" file is only 37 megs. I have had problems with many of the other supplied codecs, possibly because I may be lacking the encoders myself (??)
Encoding in mpeg 4 works great for me as well. The original video files look great, but does anyone know why the quality of the videos drastically reduce when editing through a movie editor (Studio etc)? I think it has to do with the resolution when you encode it. It seemed to get better when I made my window smaller during encoding.
