Hi Jahid and Naveen,
Thank you for the report. Are you able to use the File->Open command and choose the sample 3D file that was downloaded? Thanks, John. John Albeck Trafficware |

Hi everyone,
If you open the 'Demo3D.syn' file in SimTraffic 7, and then click on the 3DViewer button within SimTraffic 7, it should play a 5 second clip of the sample 3D file in the 3DViewer. When you load any other file and then try to play it in the 3DViewer it comes up as a 2D scene - probably because you can't record new 3D scenes in the demo version. Thanks, Jason |

Same problem. Only 5 sec. in the demo file. Why?

Hi All,
For the Demo3D file we are going to change this to play for 1 minute. This new build will be updated and posted to the download site (http://www.trafficware.com/downloads.aspx). Use the Demo3D file to test out the animations. For your own file, the time is limited to 5 seconds to let you see how the view will look for your specific location. With your own file, you'll be able to test some of the pan, tilt and other static operations will a small bit of animation time. On another note, SimTraffic creates the s3d file needed for the 3D Viewer. By default, this s3d file is NOT created (it is a large file). To create the s3d file in SimTraffic, use the command Animate >Create-3D-Graphics-Files. Otherwise, you will see a blank screen when you launch the 3D viewer from SimTraffic. Thanks, John. I share the problem of two others on this forum - I apparently do not get the s3d
file created, when I select the Animate-> Create 3D Graphics. When I click on the 3D Viewer button, I jump to the 3D Viewer screen, the bottom scroll line indicates that a number of items are being loaded. However, all I get is a "blue screen" and no further action. I do not see a Demo3D.s3d file but I see a small Demo3D.s3x file. I am running on Windows 2000 - is that part of the problem? What you have to do is go into SimTraffic and Select (as an option) to create the 3D file. It does not do this by default. Then you will be able to see the 3D demo file.
For some reason the initial 3D demo file goes missing or is changed when it is downloaded and run for the first time, I needed to recreate it by doing the above. That should work for you and for any other 3D models you wish to run. |

Hi John,
I've downloaded build 726, but I am still limited to 5 seconds when viewing the Demo3D file in the 3DViewer. Should the Demo3D file play for 1 minute in Demo mode? Thanks, Jason |

Hi Jason,
Yes, this is true that 5 seconds is still the time limit. We're working on increasing the time limit for the demo file that is included. Sorry for this inconvenience. Thanks, John. John Albeck Trafficware |

Finally got the Demo3D.s3d file created,
but it took some random click, maybe a rightclick in the 3D Viewer screen to get the image to finally appear. In my demo version I get all of 2 seconds, not 5. I do notice that the sim can be run in "reverse" and create further flow animation from the oncoming lane. And all three "modes" do animate, just that the "Ride" mode is clearly unrelated to the "Scene" mode animation, and I have yet to figure out if the "Track" mode represents an overview of part of the "Scene" scenario. Guess I need to purchase the product, but is there any further documentation on how the 3D viewer will be populated, for non-demo uses? Ken Johnson City of Renton (WA) |

I am having a horrible time creating avi files from a network I have created. I've tried using the "uncompressed" video compression. Once the file is created, it will not play and windows media player gives me a "Class not registered" error. I've tried all quality types, I've also tried other compressions, but they lock up after 10-15 frames and play at about 1 frame per 5 seconds. This does thi son two computers that I have tried this on.
Any ideas? Wyatt |

Hi Wyatt,
Would it be possible to have you send us the *.syn and *.sim files? You can attach these to a support ticket (Help>Support from within a Trafficware product). If you have a background image, could you also include that? Could you also let me know (via the ticket) the operating system and version of Media Player. We have tested with certain versions. We are also working on different ways to improve the file size and playback. John Albeck Trafficware |

Hi John,
We are trying to generate .AVI files for insertion into power point using the 3D viewer. At the Video Compression window, it is not possible to see the full names of the compression options available. (1) Is there any documentation on these options? (2) Which option is best for playing in pp? For the video to play in power point we would need to download the appropriate codec so any feedback will be appreciated. Thank you, Vasu |
