I'm having difficulty setting up an intersection for analysis that includes u-turns and overlap rights. The eastbound approach includes dual left turn lanes with protected phasing (phase 5, thru lane is phase 2). The southbound approach includes a right turn lane with overlap phasing (phase 5, thru lane phase 8).
If I code the left turn lanes I get a conflict error if I use protected (phase 5) for both left turn lanes (protected u-turn conflicts with overlap right). If is use protected for the exclusive left and use permitted for the u-turn, Syncro changes the phase from 5 to 2. This is not correct. If I then change the phase back to 5, the turn type changes to custom and the conflict remains. Any help you can provide would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance, Matt |

by the MUTCD left turn U-turns must yield to an overlap right signal.

Thanks for the response. I agree, but how do you code this in Syncro. The software shows a conflict between the u-turn and the overlap. Are the results of the analysis correct with the conflict showing?

Does anyone know how to code uturns and right turn overlaps without getting a conflict in Synchro 6? I think it may have something to do with coding the uturn as "NA" but im not sure???
