Three thrulanes and a lane merges from the left to make fourlanes downstream in my network. Simtraffic is showing the through traffic to wait for the lefts to merge. Also the through traffic is using the added lane and the merging traffic basically stopped for gaps. Is there way to make the meging vehicles to use the additional lane and operate as a free flow rahter than waiting for gaps. I did not code the merge as stop sign or yeld.
Also when there are four lanes on a link, most of my vehicles appears to use the inside two lanes only. Is there way to control the lane utilization? I appreciate your help!! |

In SimTraffic, go to Options->Map-Settings and turn on the Intersection Paths option. This will show the paths that vehicles make through an intersection. If the paths cross, then they could wait at the intersection.
A solution is to make on if the directions a right turn. Move the links or change the approach headings if necessary. Then, for this movement, add a Free channelized right (Lanes window). Use the Add Lane feature to get these vehicles in the channelized right to flow into their own lane(s). John. John Albeck Trafficware |

John, Thanks for the reply.
It appear to work but it doesn't make sense to code the 3 or 4 thru lanes as channlized rights. Also I have a southbound right turn merging into 4 WB thru lanes and simtraffic is connecting the SB right volume into all the four WB thru lane but in reality all the right turn should berge into the right most thru lane and then male lane changes. It would be a good idea to consider the lane merges closely in the next release. Thanks. |

Yes, this is something that will be addressed in the next version of Synchro. It is already implemented into the upcoming version.
Thanks, John. John Albeck Trafficware |
