Dear John,

For 1 particular approach at a intersection the vehicles are not using the outer left turn lane. When i use the same file in Synchro 5 it works fine. Can you please tell me what might be the reason

Hi Ravi,

I would guess that this is due to the paths through the intersection, and what is happening downstream. In SimTraffic, use the command Help->Map-Settings and turn on the Intersection Paths. Is one of the lanes going into a lane that is a low volume turn downstream?

If yes, can you code a storage lane for the low volume downstream? Another option is to go to the receiving link (in Synchro). Double click on the link and choose the Lane Change Distances button. Reduce the Mandatory and Positioning values. This should get the vehicles to use the two lanes more equally.

Thanks for your reply. I tried all possible combinations of mandatory and postining distances but it did not work. Actually one or two vehicles are entering the second left turn lane and are trying to get into first left turn lane. Please let me know what else i can try.
