The arterial report output that I am getting from my network is splitting my mainline into two segments. On really small and a the other one have the remainder of the cross streets

check your signal location along the arterial.

1) check and make sure that your ALL arterial link names are exactly the same - no spelling or capitalization differences.
2) I believe in order for the arterial logic to behave properly, all the intersections must have opposing approaches. N-S, E-W, NE-SW, SE-NW. if you laid out a nwtwork using an aerial photo, sometime the program assigns a different direction depending on the approach angle. These can be manually re-named (right-click the direction) but it might make a few changes to things like lane groups. So double check it after you change the direction.
