I've noticed in SimTraffic 6 that RT traffic is often yielding to opposing LT traffic when both are facing a green ball.

An intersection of mine has a leading protected/permissive WBL. The WBL and EBR turn into a single SB lane. When the WBL protected phase ends and the EBT and WBT are both showing a green ball, the EBR traffic waits and yields to the WBL traffic (when infact the opposite should be true). This will continue until either the WBL queue is relieved, or the phase terminates.

The opposite should be true (ie: LT should be yielding to opposing RT when both face a green ball). I checked the SimTraffic manual, and according to the Vehicle Approvals section on page 6-18, it seems as though item 4 is being processed before item 3 in version 6.

I have attempted to set up some test cases, and see this occur on occasion. Does this appear to be happening all the time in your file? In my testing, some WBL's will be approved to enter and the EBR vehicles that are arriving may be denied to enter. In some cases, a "string" of WBL vehicles may go and force some EBR vehicles to yield.

One way to dampen this would be to increase the EBR turning speed (you might have already done this). You might even increase the WBL turning speed if necessary. Otherwise, the WBL turners spend a lot of time in the intersection.

Hi Jason,

Thanks for sending the file. I see what you are saying with the file you have sent. The stream of WBL vehicles get approved, and then continue not allowing the EBR's to get approved. In many cases, this would not be a problem if there are EBT vehicles since they will stop the WBL, thereby approving the EBR. But, with the low volume EBT, the problem exists. This will require some tweaking to the intersection approval logic so that the EBR vehicles are taking priority. Thanks for reporting this and for sending the file.
