I am modeling a "special event" that draws about 10,000 vehicles (spread from 7 am to noon) to a rural site. Normal level of service calculations are going to be at LOS F near the site. The event is held one weekend a year, so it has been agreed (State DOT and County staff) that all of the mitigation will be temporary. Off duty police officers is the most economical way to handle this. Has anyone modeled traffic cops or have any suggestions on how to set up the parameters for a traffic cop? My hunch is to set up a traffic signal, put in small clearance intervals, and optimize it using Synchro. What defaults would you change in SimTraffic?
