I am trying to use the Synchro Data Access and SimTraffic Interval Options features to simulate transit signal priority operations during normal traffic operations (using different phase splits in different intervals). I am getting an unusual error when I run SimTraffic from Synchro "Exception Integer Overflow". What is this error telling me? Also, how do you select the default volumes assigned as the Active File in Synchro if you choose not to read a file previously selected?

Hi,

This Integer Overflow could be a number of issues. However, my initial guess would be a very high number has been accidently input in the UTDF file. This is not uncommon, in particular in DAT formats. The DAT formats are column aligned. If a number is out of it's column, Synchro and SimTraffic may read this as a much larger number.

The interger overflow could also be caused by too little disk space. Or, if you have a lot of bend nodes in a row (8 or more), this problem could occur.

If you Uncheck the Database Access check boxes in the Database Access options of SimTraffic, the volumes that will be read are from Synchro. Also note, if you do not have a count in your UTDF file, SimTraffic will default to the volumes in the Synchro file. It may be that you want the volumes to remain constant at all but one intersection. In that case, only put the volumes for the single intersection in the UTDF file.

Thanks,

John.
