I am trying to model a stop-sign controlled intersection with a left-turn accleration lane. I did this by going to the link settings window and adding one lane to the "Travel Lane:" box and setting the "Add/Drop Lanes on:" to "Left". When I ran the model in SimTraffic the extra lane was added on the right side. I tried changing the "Add/Drop Lanes on:" to "Right" but I got the same result. Is there any way to fix this?
Edited to add: After observing the SimTraffic runs more closely I noticed there is a difference when adding to the left or right. When adding to the left through traffic does not travel to the lane it is lined up with on the display. Instead it angles to the right one lane through the intersection and ends up in the right place. This is consistent with the help menu description. So to answer my own question, while a left-turn acceleration lane does not look exactly right on the screen it is anlayzed correctly. It may be a visualization issue. The add might actually be on the left. In the Options->Map-Settings, turn on the intersection paths. The lane coming in on the left may line up with the downstream left lane, but the offset may show on the right. This is not uncommon for this to look as if the lane is added on the right.
If this doesn't explain it, please feel free ot send it to me at support@trafficware.com. John Albeck Trafficware |

Thanks for your quick reply. It looks like I posted my edit the same time as you posted your answer. Thanks for the tip on showing the travel paths, that will help assure the neighbors (and my project manager) that I did set it up right.
