Hello,
I am trying to model an intersection in SimTraffic that has 2 SBT lanes, with a shared straight-thru/right-turn curb lane. I have configured the Lane Utilization Factor to approx. 75% of the volume to the centre thru lane. When I simulate the traffic, non of the straight-thru traffic is distributed to the straight-thru curb lane. The reason I am doing this is because the 2 ST lanes drop down to 1 lane approx. 50 metres south of the intersection, and I would like to simulate traffic merging after the intersection into 1 lane. I have 2 SB lanes after the intersection, with a bend node in place to drop it into 1 lane. Any ideas how to model this correctly? Thanks. |

You might try ajusting the Lane Change distances on the approach to the bend node. These are found in the Simulation Options window. It is a bit of trial and error to find the desired results.
Details on these settings can be found on pages 9-8, and 24-8 of the Synchro Studio 7 User Guide. There are a variety of figures in Chapter 24 on this. Basically, for your model, you will try to make the values shorter. Please note, the lane utilization factor will have no impact at all on SimTraffic. The lane util factor is only a macroscopic adjustment for Synchro's HCM based saturation flow. Thanks, John. John Albeck Trafficware |
