I am looking at three intersections. The middle intersection is unsignalized and is stop controlled only on the side street approaches. The intersection downstream from this one has a lane drop into a right turn. The distance between these intersections is less than the positioning distance in synchro.
In SimTraffic, I was wondering if the positioning distance is limited to the shorter link length, or if it extends beyond the upstream intersection. Thanks Mark |

Hi Mark,
The Positioning Distance does extend beyond the link. So, it will extend beyond even a short link. You could see vehicles positioning 3 to 8 links back depending on the distances of the links. The Positioning Distance is also adjusted for each driver type. You'll see the distribution around the Positioning Distance in the SimTraffic Driver Parameters. Thanks, John.
