I’m trying to run a simulation by using SimTraffic. But I have cars stop in the middle of the through lanes. I noticed that the car in the left through lane is going to make a left turn at the downstream intersection. Since the crossing street located downstream is packed, that car just stops and waits. Meanwhile, the first car in the adjacent through lane is planning to make a left turn at the second downstream signal and try to merge to the left lane at the same spot where the aformentioned car stops. However, there’s no apparent reason for the car in the right lane stopping in the middle of the through lane. Does anybody know how I could solve this problem?
try reducing your lane change distances under "simulation settings", in the downstream link. This will reduce the distance at whcih drivers plan to make their lane changes for that link.
