I have a five-leg intersection with an east-west street and a two-way street to the south and two one-way streets to the north. These two one-way streets (one southbound only and one northbound only) come in as a "V" so I would rather not join them together upstream of the intersection.

The problem I'm having is with northbound left-turning vehicles. The do not yield to the southeast-bound traffic and the simulation shows these cars driving on top of each other. I assume it is because Synchro considering the SE vehicles to be making a right, not a through, though the left turners should yield in that case. I made sure to code the SER movement as protected and the NBL as permitted-only.

Has anyone else had this issue?

Thanks!

Jamie

I would check your turning movement paths to be sure the volumes are assigned to the proper movements, and check your actual phase numbers to be sure that conflicting movements aren't going at once.

I would suggest that you redefine the "southeast" approach to just "southbound". That way, those vehicles will be treated as "through" movements instead of SE right-turning movements.

To redefine the name of an approach direction, right click on the column label in any windows (Lane, Volume, Timing, etc..), and then choose which direction you want to call it. To go back to the Synchro default direction (based on the map geometry), choose "free".

also realize that since both of the one way links cannot be "thru" moves to the northbound link, one of the will be either a left or a right turn. You'll need to change the turning speed for this movement, in the simulation settings window, to something close to what is observed in the field. Otherwise, it defaults to 9 or 15 mph and you'll have reduced the capacity of the movement.
