Hello,

I am currently coordinating three signals together. The ped phasing is required to be exclusive. When I try to put in the exclusive ped phase for each of my three signals (with the appropriate timings) I can't get the signals to coordinate(controllers go from act-coord to act-unco). The ped phase is activated by pushbutton only. The only solution I have come up with is to model the signals without the ped phase. My concern is that I have to report my results - my question is how do I properly report results?

My best guess was to report two sets of results - one for the coordinated system with no ped phase assigned, do a “save as” then leave the same timings achieved form coordinating the system and turning each of those signals to “act uncoordinated” and adding the exclusive ped phase, then reporting the results obtained from that.

Neither set will be correct as the ped volumes in this specific case are low (say less than 25 calls/hr at each intersection) and the controller should come back to coordinated on its own after a couple of cycles.

Anyone have any insight, previous experience or suggestions as to what I should do?

Hi,

What would is to optimize individual intersection separately to find the working cycle length for each. Based on these cycle length info, I would then run the Network Optimization by setting the Minimum and Maximum values of around the greatest denomination of the individual ones. I would also make sure that Allow Undcoordinated field was set to "Never (0)" before executing the Optimize Cycle Lengths function.

For Example, if you got 95, 110, 130 for three cycle lengths of your three intersections when optimizing them separately, you would need to your Min around 120 and your Max around 150. This solution would try to my the working cycle length to serve all three intersections (one that can serve the worst intersection).

Hope this would help you to solve your existing problem.
