I am trying to model a 3 level SPUI. I need to be able to present the layout, and so have been trying to code each approach separately as a one way roads in order to show the underpass and overpass more clearly. To complicate matters there are service roads running along the main road, the attached pdf illustrates this. These service roads mean that i need to be able to simulate u-turners through the SPUI. When I goto the lane window I am able to select anyone of the 8 roads connected to the SPUI, however in lane settings it is only possible to define a movement going to one of 5 arms. The left most lanes or right most lanes are not available. Is it that this whole approach to coding the junction is wrong? Is 5 different movements the maximum available from a single approach?
any help much appeciated. James 3_level_spui.pdf (45 KB, 31 downloads) level spui |

Hi James,
I wish I had better news for you, but you are going to run out of movements. Synchro allows 6 movements per approach. This is 1 through, 2 lefts, 2 rights and 1 U-Turn. However, a U-turn is defined as sending traffic back down the subject link which you do not want. There is no Left or Right "3" movements, so the hardest left/right is not included. So, you may need to model it without that movement, or make one of the directions a single, two-way link which would not look at you wish. Thanks, John. John Albeck Trafficware |
