We would like to evaluate a protected pedestrian overlap. We would install a 3 section head (red, yellow and green arrow)for the right turn movement. When a pedesrian activates the walk phase for phase 2, the right turn 3 section head is red while the through phase 2 is green. If there is no pedestrian activation, the 3 section head is green with phase 2 and also with phase 7. We can run our "Econolite ASC 3 controller with this set up and it works fine, but how do we model this in Synchro 7?

Hi Rick,
Quick question... if you have a ped call, does the right turn come up during the cycle at all? Or, does the right turn have to wait a complete cycle without a ped call to see a green. Thanks, John. John Albeck Trafficware |

John. Yes When the ph 2 ped is activated the right turn is red. At the end of the ped clearance time, the right turn will run green with the ph 2 through for the rest of the ph2

Hi Rick,
Thanks for the follow-up. Attached is my understanding of the issue. The EBT is coded as phase 12 and 2. The EBR is coded as just phase 2. If there is a ped call for phase 12, it will come up and the right turn is will not proceed. if there is no demand for ped, phase 12 will be skipped and phase 2 will start early. Also note that I have coded the Detector Phase for the EBT as phase 2 only. So, the only thing to call phase 12 is a ped call. Thanks, John. Thanks John. This will really help us evaluate requested protected pedesrian phases.
