I'm having some difficulty using the UTDF files. I have my network set up just the way I want it but then want to update just the volumes. Can I delete all rows that don't have to do with volumes and then reimport the UTDF file to ensure that only the volumes are updated? Or will the UTDF file not be read properly if I do so?

The UTDF file has so much data in it it's hard to keep track of all the different data. For example, I could have updated the signal timings in Synchro but the UTDF file may have old signal timings in it. I know I could export the UTDF file each time and then reimport the file, but I have my files set up to automatically update just the volumes and if I export the UTDF file the volumes won't automatically link anymore.

Or does anyone have an alternate suggestion?

As long as you are just using the UTDF to update your SYN files, yes. Delete anything you don't want.

Have you thought about using the version 6 data access menu? From there you can write and read CSV files that have nothing but timings, phases, volumes, etc. You can also specify date and time if you want.

Oh yeah, keep your volume heading in the utdf file. I didn't realize you could "clean up" utdf files until I asked about detectors one time:Older Post
