Hi,
I am modeling a 2 level SPUI with at grade junction and north south under pass for through traffic. In order to model the traffic turning right onto the access ramp for the highway I have used a channelized right turn. This right turn merges with traffic traveling through the SPUI. Subsequently this stream of traffic merges with u-turning traffic from the ramp coming off the highway. I have attached an image as this is difficult to explain. I am having a problem where the free flowing ramp traffic is stopping where it merges with the u-turning traffic. This happens on both the north and south sections of the junction in the same way. Does anyone know why this is happening? I think has something to do with all traffic trying to get into the left hand most lane before travelling through this point. If I move the node further away this blocking stops, but then this changes the layout of the junction away from what I am trying to do. Any suggestions? Or is this effect just part of the way Synchro works? Any help much appreciated James |

I am not sure whether you realize that the issue you are talking about it is not synchro, it is simtraffic. Even though they are made by same vendor they are two different software.
Check the fllowing - Simulation settings. merge speed is not a regular right turning speed of 9 mph. chang the speed to an appropriate number. - Simulation settings. allow the traffic to enter the blocked intersection - Tapers can have a major role in merge. You maye have to play with the apperance of the link to make the vehicles operate correctly - Adjust the OD. permutation/combination of the above steps may help. |

If it helps, there is an example included in the trafficware program directory.
Something like: C:\Program Files\Trafficware\single point.syn Mark |

Thanks for the responses. Having played around with the settings suggested, I have not been able to cure the issue. Usually simtraffic running properly reassures me that a junction has been coded correctly. I guess I will have to live with this glitch on this one.
