Hello Everyone:
I have a very specific issue with the HCM unsignalized report generated by SYNCHRO V7.0, Build 761. I am curious how the pX (platoon unblocked) value is calculated. I have a TWSC intersection just south of a busy signalized intersection. I notice that when I introduce a dummy node (of no consequence) in between these intersections, the value for pX changes. In fact, the value increases, and if I play around with volumes in between scenarios, the introduction of this interim node could actually improve the TWSC capacity on the side street, even if volumes go up (all other things being equal). Any discussion or experience with this situation would be greatly appreciated. Thanks! Dave |

Never seen that one before. How does the TWSC HCM report from Synchro compare to HCS?

Mark:
The dummy node in between my subject TWSC intersection and the adjacent signal doesn't change my results when using HCS; however, using SYNCHRO's HCM report, I do see these differences, which are not intuitive. It's almost like the link distance or travel time values influence the calculation of pX. Has anyone else experienced this situation? Dave |
