This is a very simple intersection. I would liek to code one lane on each approach with one lane around circle. However, i would like to have U turn volume also. But, i did not find option in lane setting which allows u turn, left turn, through and right turn in one lane. when i try to use u turn, it adds another lane on each approach, which is not what i want. interestingly, while simulating, all the vehicles uses only one lane. could anyone please help me on this? Thank you.

Hi Sharad,
In the Volume or Lanes window, press Ctrl+U while in the approach you want the U-Turn. Don't add any lanes, just the volume. SimTraffic will share this U-Turn with the adjacent single lane. Thanks, John. John Albeck Trafficware |

Thank you John, it worked fine. would you please tell me about the delay, LOS output of roundabouts? can we compare this with results with HCM signalized or unsignalized output from synchro? I can only see maximum v/c high, maximum v/c low, low v/c, high v/c and so on. how would i justify roundabout versus signalized intersection while comparing delay or LOS? I would appreciate your input. Thanks.

Hi Sharad,
Synchro will only give the v/c values that you mention. This is to match the current HCM methods (these will change in the future). If you want to compare to a signal, stop and roundabout control, you could try simulating with SimTraffic. You'll get comparable MOEs for all types of control in SimTraffic. Thanks, John.
