In my SYNCHRO model network, I had to increase the existing traffic volumes by 9% and i did that by using a Growth Factor of 1.09.
I just noticed in the report that for signalized intersection the overall intersection delay is calculated (weighted average) based on original traffic volumes, not the adjusted ones. Also the SYNCHRO report shows the original traffic volumes, not the factored volumes.
Anybody has any idea about this.
Thanks,
Mazhar

Hi Mazhar,

I think that it is working OK. You might just want to add more detail to your report. If you are creating the INT:Timing report, you only see the raw volume. If you want more info, go ahead and also click on Volume Inputs and Volume Outputs in the Date To Include box of the Create Report dialog.

Thanks,

John.

How about intersection delay? In this case, the intersection delay should be weighted based on adjusted traffic numbers (9% increase in this case) since these are my actual traffic volumes.
Now I have option to export original traffic volumes into .CSV format. factored in the spread sheet and then import into SYNCHRO and not using any GF. I just wanted to escape this step by using GF in the SYNCHRO model.
Does SYNCHRO report give any volume output just for the effect of Growth Factor, not any adjustment for PHF,% HV etc.

Thanks,
Mazhar

Hi Mazhar,

If you enter a GF, the results will be based on the GF adjusted volumes, not the raw volumes. Try a global setting of a GF to 1.0 and note the delay at the intersection. Than, put in a GF of 1.09 for the network and look at the delay again. It should be different in the Timing window and the reports. You'll want to include Volume Outputs in your data to include if you are using this adjustment.

Thanks,

John.
